It is easy to get to Argentina from the U.S.; no visa is necessary and there is no reciprocity fee. Argentina, south of the Equator, has opposite seasons from the United States, so it is possible to enjoy summer when our temperatures are frigid, or ski in our summer.

“Life is a journey. When we stop, things don’t go right.” ~Pope Francis, famous Argentinian Catholic Pope

Low seasons in Spring and Fall still offer time for great outdoor pursuits in mild temperatures, making it a country suitable for travel year-round.

Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, the capital, is an European-flavored city with French-influenced Beaux Arts buildings, and those with a Spanish flavor.

Tango is King

Tango is king here, where you can watch stylized shows or join in local milangros, where passionate locals meet.

The Argentine tango is special in its style- and its approach.  There are codes and customs, dos and don’ts to joining in.  So start with a private lesson or two: most hotels can put you in touch with a teacher, or you can reach out to one of the more reputable schools, such as Mora Godoy Tango or Escuela Carlos Copello. Once you have the basics under your belt, you can head to local spots to go to a group class and practice.  Some that welcome beginners are La Catedral, Confitera Ideal and la Viruta.
